Window Film Maintenance & Care

Keep your investment performing for years with proper care.

Maintenance & Care

A Little Care. Lasting Performance.

Window film is one of the lowest-maintenance investments you can make for your property — but it does require specific care during and after the curing period. Follow these instructions to protect your installation, maintain your warranty coverage, and get the full performance life out of your film.

DO NOT CLEAN YOUR WINDOW FILM FOR 30 DAYS AFTER INSTALLATION

Your film requires 30 days to fully cure. Cleaning before this period can compromise adhesion and void your warranty.

During the Curing Period (Days 1–30)

  • Film may appear foggy — this is normal and will clear within 1 week
  • Do not clean the film under any circumstances
  • Do not pop any bubbles — contact us if bubbles appear

After Curing (Day 30+)

  • Clean with soft cloth or paper towel + mild detergent or commercial cleaner
  • Never use abrasive tools, razor blades, or harsh chemicals
  • Dry immediately with a squeegee or soft cloth
  • Optional: apply silicone polish for a luminous finish

FAQ

Common questions about window film maintenance

Why can't I clean my window film right after installation? +
Film requires 30 days to fully cure after installation. Cleaning during this period can prevent the adhesive from bonding properly to the glass surface, which may cause edge lifting, bubbling, or adhesion failure — and can void your manufacturer warranty.
The film looks foggy after installation — is this normal? +
Yes, completely normal. The slight haziness you see immediately after installation is condensation from the water used during the installation process. It dissipates within the first week as the film cures and the moisture evaporates through the film.
What cleaning products are safe to use on window film? +
Mild detergent and water, or any commercial glass cleaner without ammonia, are safe to use on cured film. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners, abrasive scrubbers, or concentrated solvents — these can scratch the film surface or break down the adhesive over time.
There are bubbles in my film — what should I do? +
Don't attempt to pop them. Small water bubbles during the curing period are normal and usually disappear as the film cures. If bubbles are still present after the 30-day curing period, or if they are large and persistent, contact us immediately for an assessment.
How often should I clean my window film? +
Less often than bare glass — film is less porous and attracts less dirt and dust than untreated glass. Clean when visibly dirty, typically every 1–3 months depending on your property's environment and surrounding conditions.
What should I do if the film starts peeling or lifting? +
Contact us immediately. Edge lifting within your warranty period is covered — either by the manufacturer warranty, our workmanship warranty, or both. Our team will assess the cause and repair or replace the affected film as needed.
