Heat and Glare Control
DR 15 SR PS5 is specified around its 5 mil construction and Philadelphia glass conditions.
DR 15 SR PS5 combines two jobs in one LLumar product: dark dual-reflective solar control and mid-level safety-film construction. The 15% VLT manages heat, glare, and daytime privacy, while the 5 mil polyester helps retain glass fragments after breakage. The exterior appearance is part of the specification, so the film should be judged from the sidewalk as well as from inside the room.
That blend is valuable for ground-floor retail in high-traffic Philadelphia corridors, SEPTA-adjacent storefronts, school entries, and offices with public-facing glass. It helps address comfort during humid summers while adding a protective layer where smash-and-grab risk or accidental impact is part of the planning discussion. On Philadelphia projects, DR 15 SR PS5 should be evaluated by elevation, room use, and how much glass faces sidewalks, transit, neighboring rowhomes, or open sky.
The safety component helps hold broken glass together and can delay forced entry when properly specified with the right glass and attachment details. It does not make glass unbreakable. The dual-reflective construction also keeps interior reflectance lower than a standard mirrored film, improving view quality from inside. In practice, 15% VLT and 5 mil tells the project team how assertive the silver reflective result will feel once installed, not just how it looks on a sample card.
Choose DR 15 SR PS5 when solar control and glass retention both matter. If the glass already has enough solar performance, compare clear SCL safety films; if safety is not a concern, standard DR 15 may be the simpler specification. Window Film Philadelphia can compare it against adjacent LLumar options from Eastman Performance Films so the final selection matches the building, not just the product category. Samples should be judged in the actual room whenever daylight, privacy, historic appearance, visibility, or color is close.
